Nice post, my dear friend! Make sure you read Seth Godin's new book, Linchpin, when it comes out. It's a call for us to transition to a "gift economy." Which is exactly what this post is about.

I'm convinced that the self-help movement has a flaw. It says that we should "improve" ourselves in an effort to change the world. I think this is self-centered. Where's the line? At what point are we "improved" enough to start engaging the world with our gifts?

I like the idea of what I'm calling "others improvement." Meaning we should wake up each day and work to improve others' lives. And, in doing so, improve our own.

That is essentially what your beautiful post is saying. Which says a lot about your heart.
